Midnight Oil has embarked on their final tour with a handful of dates in the States. Here’s what may interest you about the tour.
There are two US dates of interest to me, June 10 in Chicago and June 25 in DC. If I have counted correctly, these two shows will leave me with an even dozen times I’ve seen them.
Here’s where they’re playing in Chicago:

Here’s where they’re playing in DC. Note this will be the last show ever in the United States and we’re in the fifth row.

Wrapping up the first leg of the Resist Tour:
Review of the new album, Resist:
What are they playing? For the Great Circle tour of 2017, they rehearsed their entire catalog (over 170 songs) and each set could be drastically different with the exception of a few standards. We even saw their greatest album “10…1” played through entirely in Chicago. It was amazing. Here’s a snippet of that show.
However it seems like they are keeping it a little more consistent with more standard setlists for this tour. It makes a lot of sense considering they’re breaking in a new bass player as Adam Ventoura fills in for Bones on Bass. Also, Bones did a lot of singing (don’t believe me…listen to One Country) so we’re likely to see backup singers. And teaching the entire catalog to a new bassist and singers is probably beyond expectation.
So, again, what are they playing? Per our friends at setlist.fm this is their “average” setlist for the first leg of Resist. They closed with Hercules almost every night and we can only be so lucky for them to do it again. There are a handful of new songs including one from Makaratta. And it’s heavy on their two most popular albums, 10…1 and Diesel.

Who’s opening? Leah Flanagan. She’s a singer songwriter from Darwin in Northern Australia. Cool the Oils are supporting Aussie acts though one Hoodoo Gurus would have been my choice, and a few more. Here’s Leah on Youtube to draw your own conclusion:
